Conor was delighted to attend the presentation of the Legion D'Honneur Medal to Mr Stanley Hartill by the Mayor of Bournemouth Councillor John Adams. Conor had helped ensure that Sgt Stanley Hartill was awarded with the French Medal, established by Nepoleon Bonaparte in 1802 and the highest award that France can give. Stanley Hartill joined the RAF when he was 19 a week before the Battle of Britain broke out and serviced Spitfires at Middle Wallop. He also took part in the D Day landings. Also at the presentation were fellow recipients of the award, Mr Kerswill, who served at Dunkirk and still had the boots he had marched 1,300 mile in from the Russian lines and Cpl Roberts orginally from Canada. They both asked the Mayor to present them formally with their medals. Mr Young who has served with the Royal Engineers was also present along with family members of all four holders of the medal.
