Funding boost for local mental health services

One of Conor’s priorities since his election has been to see an improvement in all aspects of mental health care, believing it to have been a Cinderella service within the NHS.

Speaking recently, he expressed pleasure that among many steps being taken to offer more help, Bournemouth and Poole will benefit directly from £475,000 Government funding for Dorset, to provide schemes such as crisis cafés, houses and hubs in the community as well as improvements to mental health facilities at Bournemouth and Poole hospitals.

Conor initiated a debate in Parliament to highlight to Ministers the pressure we face locally, housing asylum seekers. This followed the murder sentence handed down for the killing by an asylum seeker of 21 year old local man Tom Watson with a knife.
