Bournemouth's Air Festival managed to avoid the poor weather and with the exception of Thursday managed a full flying programme. This event now fully established in the town's programme has become the main focus for the Royal Navy's recruiting programme and unknown to many visitors to the festival run a full military exercise for their reservists.
Conor was at the festival meeting members of the Armed Forces who were very keen to show their skills on the shore with a great display from the Royal Marines and Royal Navy and at sea in HMS Iron Duke and RFA ARGOS where members of the ships company gave a moving brief ot the ships role in the Ebola Emergency.
The skill and dedication of the Armed Forces could be seen all around the Air Festival and of course there was the flight programme too.
Took time to talk with Admirals and with the First Sea Lord about how links between Bournemouth and the Royal Navy could be strengthened and assured them of his support to make this so.
This was was the last time that the Vulcan Bomber will be seen at the Air Festival due to the age of the aircraft and a fond farewell was given. The Red Arrows once again delivered a thrilling programme at the Festival which is sure to continue to grow going forward.
