Conor visited Bournemouth Traincare Depot in Westbourne recently, to see their multimillion pound spending programme in action.

The Bournemouth plant, built in 1966, will carry out a £23 million overhaul of South West Train’s entire class 455 fleet which operate suburban routes around London.  South West Trains won the contract to refurbish the fleet, which are leased to them by Porterbrook, towards the end of last year.

Conor is supporting the Obesity Management Association’s My Weight, My Future campaign after hosting a reception for the charity in Parliament.

The campaign is urging the public to take control and responsibility for their weight and to ‘Know My BMI’ to reduce pressure on the NHS.  BMI (or Body Mass Index) uses height and weight to determine the level of body fat and help indicate whether a person is a healthy weight.  The charity urges people to know their BMI and the BMI of their family members and to check it every three months to monitor changes.

Conor Burns MP has signed a Book of Commitment in the House of Commons pledging his commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and honouring those who died during the Holocaust.

Sunday January 27th marked the 68th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration and extermination camp which is the site of the largest mass murder in history. In the weeks running up to the day, the Holocaust Educational Trust placed a Book of Commitment in the House of Commons, giving MPs the chance to honour those who were persecuted and killed during the Holocaust and encouraging constituents to work together to combat prejudice and racism today.

Conor has welcomed a 20 per cent increase in public health spending for Bournemouth over the next two years.

The increase of 10 per cent for 2013/14 and a further 10 per cent in 2014/15 will see Government spending on health in the town rise to over £8.2 million.

Conor Burns is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Bournemouth West, Branksome East and Alderney. He lives in Westbourne in Bournemouth West. He has pledged to be a community-focused MP who works as a voice in Westminster for his constituents, putting them before anything else.

Conor's constituency is a new one, including Bournemouth West, parts of Branksome, the Bourne Valley and Alderney in Poole. The area is diverse, with urban and rural neighbourhoods and a population of young families, key workers, students and pensioners.
